Laminated Glazing Defined: The standard explicitly defines laminated glazings as assemblies consisting of one or more sheets of glass and/or plastic glazing material bonded with one or more organic interlayers. It covers two-ply, multi-ply, and glass/plastic laminates.
Test Methods: In addition to the impact test, CAN/CGSB 12.1-2017 also includes test methods to evaluate the integrity of the laminated assembly, such as:
- Boil (wet) test: The laminated glass is submerged in boiling water for a set period to test for signs of delamination, bubbles, or other defects near the edges.
- Bake (dry) test: The laminated glass is subjected to high heat to check for delamination. These tests ensure the durability of the bond between the glass and the interlayer.
